Lots of second seasons this time around. I enjoyed the first seasons of Kyokou Suiri, Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko and Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha so I'll at least be watching those. Blue Lock was surprisingly really good last season so I'll continue watching that as well. Also surprised to see Oniichan wa Oshimai get an adaptation, I was about to pick up the manga figuring it wouldn't get an adaptation.

I'll probably look at the new Nier expecting it to be more coherent than the game. Spy Kyoushitsu might be fun. Ooyukiumi no Kaina and Ars no Kyojuu are my random original picks this season that may be dropped on a whim. The rest of the shows I'm watching are just sequels, surprised to see Vinland Saga get one.

Mainly because of the last part of the episode, where Mahiro realizes he's been selfishly leeching off Mihari's kindness while wallowing in self-pity, and decides to finally act like a reliable older brother when she really needs it, which finally gets Mihari the attention from her onii-chan she's been craving for so long. Two siblings who are more attached to each other than they want to admit finally mended their relationship after drifting apart due to a lack of communication.

It was also nice to see earlier in the episode that through his interactions with Kaede, Mahiro is learning to socialize again and overcoming his social fears. This may be a strange comparison, but this series is increasingly reminding me of Welcome to the NHK (my all-time favorite series) in how the protagonist is gradually forced to get their life back in order and achieving slow but important progress in doing so.

I have no clue what happened out there for Welcome to the NHK to get an 'ironic' status like Lain has had for a while now, but back on early /jp/ people genuinely loved the series, in hindsight often to an embarrassing degree (and frequently missing the whole point, thinking hikikomori is cool). 4chan having multiple Welcome to the NHK banners implies /a/ probably loved it when it came out as well (though I can't personally verify, I didn't join until early /jp/). It remains a very unique series to this day and is nothing like Rozen Maiden. Did you even watch either series? The only thing they have in common is the protagonist being a hikikomori, but in Rozen Maiden that's more like a backdrop to the magical doll adventures while Satou's personal development is central in Welcome to the NHK (similar to how the central focus in Onimai, despite the genderbending antics, is Mahiro's personal development).

Speaking of Onimai, I found episodes 4 and 5 still great, but somewhat disappointing after how incredible the first three episodes were. Next episode has Mahiro going to school, let's hope it picks up again then.

For other series, shit surprisingly hit the fan in Handyman Saitou ep5, suddenly going from short gags to a serious story in a pretty cool way. Saving 80,000 Gold started nice but seems to be becoming slower and less surprising as it settles into the shop management aspect, hope it starts doing more interesting stuff again soon.

I guess so.

The personal development of Jum is literally the alice game. That's what makes shinki alice, because she fufil's rozen's vision of a hikkiomori rehabilitation machine. Of course, because rozen maiden is actually competent even though it has a wrongheaded moral, it acknowledges and demonstrates the lotus eater machine respectfully and in all it's glory, and it is glorious.
Like, I guess you have no idea, because you're talking about the fucking anime when there isn't one, but the whole fucking point is the dichotomy between wound/unwound jun and taking a step forward, but of course despite rozen's moralizing it is a fair and reasonable depiction and why kirakishou and just the fantasy tea land of the dolls in general is so beloved.

>That's literally ironic, are you retarded?

Shitposting 'irony' wasn't really a thing back then (though it did take over /jp/ shortly afterwards). We really were just a bunch of dumb teens and young adults who pretended our social patheticness was something cool. There was always a big layer of self-derision in it, but it wasn't as distant and insincere as modern 'irony'. Fondness of the series itself was absolutely genuine; in general people could be more upfront about what they liked and didn't have to resort to 'ironically liking' things, especially not on /jp/ where we were all losers anyways.

>because you're talking about the fucking anime when there isn't one

I figured you were talking about the first Rozen Maiden anime series (and its second season) as it was from around the same time as the Welcome to the NHK anime. Comparing Welcome to the NHK to the Rozen Maiden manga isn't really a fair comparison, as NHK is based on a novel from 2002 while as far as I'm aware Rozen Maiden never really went too deep into those subjects in the original manga (at least not in the early parts) and the 'unwound' Rozen Maiden ran from 2008 to 2014 (i.e. it started way after even NHK's anime adaptation aired and didn't finish until 12 years after NHK's publication). Even disregarding that, Welcome to the NHK is a down-to-earth realistic drama (discounting the obvious wish fulfilment aspects) made entertaining through comedy, whereas Rozen Maiden is a fantasy story. They're just very different.

>Shitposting 'irony' wasn't really a thing back then (though it did take over /jp/ shortly afterwards). We really were just a bunch of dumb teens and young adults who pretended our social patheticness was something cool.

None of that is true. You, in your having come there in the later days and filled it with your blogposting garbage, looked down on yourself and posted about looking down on yourself because you're a fucking faggot and a loser and since you're so repulsive and there was an influx of your faggotry of course this kind of obnoxious blogposting quickly took over especially when any sort of thread actually about an otaku passion or pursuit was deleted and the genuine posters who were there before you quickly left for greener pastures.
You also very clearly don't know what 'irony' means. (As was already said) It's ironic that rozen maiden is a good manga and that /jp/ likes it because the metanarrative is seemingly counterpropaganda railing against core /jp/ values, yet of course it does depict and glorify core /jp/ values. This makes it ironic that people like it. There is explicit irony in how they like it. They like it ironically. That doesn't mean that they don't like it, and this was explained to you before and you still don't get it. Can you learn? You can't speak english? Are you a dog? Less? You're a miserable pile of bile and shit, and implying everyone else must be too and mindlessly waving on your favorite sportsball team because they're wearing the right colors. That's a metaphor. If you weren't such a faggot you could appreciate the art of the game, but apparently you can't, nor can you imagine that other people might do so either. I guess you don't even believe that such a thing exists. Kill yourself nigger.

>Fondness of the series itself was absolutely genuine

Yes. No shit, as was claimed. That doesn't preclude that it was ironic. As was explained. Kill yourself nigger. Nobody liked the message or the writing of welcome to the nhk, which is why trace of it in derivative culture exists. Yet the actual workmanship of e.g. the music was appreciated. Which is why it survived. The punchyness of the surviving line that's kept around is because of it's punchyness in the ENGLISH TRANSLATION. Nobody cares about welcome to the nhk or what it's trying to say or how it says it, because there's no merit or value there. Even you don't, you're just cheering because you think they're supporting the right color and you want to circlejerk about other things that are that color existing and not comment on their actual quality or content. Kill yourself nigger.

>didn't have to resort to 'ironically liking' things

How can you so persistently misunderstand the concept and usage of irony? Are you retarded? Kill yourself nigger.

>I figured you were talking about the first Rozen Maiden anime series

There is literally no reason to possibly think that. It's unambiguous from the comparison, and nobody cares about the animes except for where they expand on the aesthetics of the manga and the time. There's no connection in the writing at all. Kill yourself nigger.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything? They're both works on the same concept. NHK has nothing to say that isn't said better by RM, as was stated. Kill yourself nigger.

>Even disregarding that, Welcome to the NHK is a down-to-earth realistic drama (discounting the obvious wish fulfilment aspects) made entertaining through comedy, whereas Rozen Maiden is a fantasy story.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything? They're still exploring the same concepts. Other than some literal contemporaneous political shitflinging, rozen maiden holistically encloses the same concepts. As was stated already. What's hard about this to understand? What is this nonsequitur here for? Kill yourself nigger.

>What are your impressions of this season, anon?

>Kyokou Suiri

Watched the first season at the suggestion of (>>9). There are many strange things about this series. For one, Iwanaga is played as a Sherlock Holmes investigator archetype, but really she is just a compulsive liar. If you think you'd enjoy full episodes of some bitch crafting barely coherent explanations of occult activity, it's the show for you. Somehow I did enjoy it, angrily. Also Rikka could have won if she just posted (lack of) tits.

>Ooyukiumi no Kaina

3D had my expectations low, but it's passable really. Generic fantasy adventure story. The setting is pleasant and the development of the story isn't as slow as I assumed. Fucking dolphins look retarded though.

>Hikari no Ou

This interested me more than anything else on the list, and man it's been a ride so far. The protagonist is a sole animator desperately learning to put together action sequences while the funding for his team crumbles on all sides. He animates panning shot after panning shot deftly avoiding all lip-synced dialogue. I point to the OP animation, and ask, "When do I get to watch this?" There is no answer. He begins drawing more gorilla faced village women and I sigh in frustration.

What aimless negativity? You can't watch a show that isn't out.
It's pretty fucking telling that you're repping the plot of an adaptation you agree isn't even worth reading and yet here you are, blowing years of your life on watching this absolute irredeemable garbage instead of in any sort of useful or digestible format just because it gives you fodder for your aimless water cooler communal blogpost whining.
The only reason to watch a currently airing season or read a currently releasing comic is because you're a genrefag, or because you're a huge fucking retard faggot subhuman nigger piece of shit cumlicking moron who is watching tv not because it has any sort of value, to him or otherwise, but just because it's something to talk about with your fellow faggots on social media. I dropped this like a brick after the first episode. It wasn't even because of any technical faults, I just really didn't like the atmosphere. It was just 20 minutes straight of people being irredeemable assholes to each other (in a fairly realistic sense, no over-the-top silliness). Maybe my taste really has become shit, preferring typical isekai wish fulfilment stuff over 'deeper' stuff like that, but I want to actually enjoy the series I watch.

Ironically I haven't been watching InSpectre season 2 beyond the first episode because there's been too much other stuff to watch (same goes for the other second seasons I'd been looking forward to). I'll get around to it later. Kaina was a hard pass for me as I just can't get into 3DCG anime.
